Water Meter Project Update:

Update September 2006: Tthe multi-year meter replacement program is continuing. This year we intentionally cut back on existing meter change-outs due to other expenses but have increased the meter inventory due to an upcoming 15% increase in meter costs. Currently we are again actively installing this meter inventory. With the installation of the radio read meters, the costs related to meter reading are reduced by more than 90%.

As of September 2006:

• 582 new residential meters were installed.
• 281 meters were upgraded/replaced with radio read meters.

Update May 2005: The installation of 700 new water meters is complete. These Master Meter 3G AMR (Automatic Meter Reading) meters will slash our meter reading hours. One route that used to take 3 days to read now takes a half hour.  This will allow are crew to use the extra time for important maintenance tasks.
