Employee Spotlight: Jan Cooley

Jan Cooley is in her 19th year of working for Spanaway Water Company.  After graduating from high school, she took a job with the phone company where she worked for 5 years.  Following a 10 year break from work to raise her two daughters, she found employment at an office supply store.  Six years later, she became the accounts receivable clerk for SWC.  In 1996 she accepted the office manager position and continues to fill that title.

Her chief responsibilities include paying bills, payroll, handling the more complicated phone calls and generally overseeing the office staff.  The thing she loves most about working for the water company are the people.  “After 18 years with the same company and many of the same co-workers it feels like were family.  We enjoy each other and do some activities outside of work together.  It’s just a great place to work!” 

Jan is a grandma of three.  She loves traveling to see her grandchildren as much as possible and looks forward to the extra time she will have with them after she retires in about 6 years.
